Making room for Baby

New parents are usually advised to have their newborn babies sleep in their bedroom with them for the first few months so you do have some time to get working on the nursery. However, if your household does not have the room for a cot in the main bedroom then you’ll need to be clearing something to make room. This could mean that you’ll be removing bulky items such as dressing tables, wardrobes, chests of drawers or ottomans.

Removing these kinds of bulky items usually requires two people, especially as they’re at the top of a flight of stairs or two. This is where Clearabee’s ‘Man and Van’ service outperforms other waste clearance services. If you’re removing especially bulky items, we will send a two-person team who can remove them from any room in your house as long as it’s safe to do so.

What’s more, Clearabee only uses audited and approved local Waste Transfer Stations which offer the highest rates of landfill diversion. This means that you can be sure that your old bulky items are going to good use, with at least 95% of all we collect being recycled or diverted from landfill. A New Nursery

Whichever room you intend to use for the new nursery, the chances are you’ll need to clear it entirely. Most nurseries feature a cot, a wardrobe, a changing table and a nursing chair at the very least which leaves very little room for whatever’s already in your spare room. The removal of bulky items such as these make the ‘Man and Van’ clearance the ideal option because of the 30 minutes reasonable labour which is included in our costs.

However, if you have a little more time on your side, then it’s worth considering our skip hire or Skip Bag services. Each service has next-day delivery options available so you can go about setting up your nursery quickly. The skips can be kept on your property for up to 14 days whilst you have up to six months to book your Skip Bag collection. As long as you don’t mind carrying out the labour yourself, skips and Skip Bags can be a more leisurely way to clear your room, giving you plenty of time to decide what’s going and what’s staying.

Taking Over the House

It’s not just your bedroom and the nursery that might need some space freeing up. Your living room will no doubt need room for Jungle Jumparoos, Tummy Time Mats and the like, which means that you might be needing to get rid of coffee tables, footstools and large lamps.

The same goes for your dining room too. If you’re planning to purchase a highchair, then you’ll need to find a new home or get rid of a chair to make room for it at the table and you may even need to replace the table itself. Your kitchen surfaces might need clearing to make room for sterilisers and milk prep machines whilst you’re likely to need a whole drawer or cupboard for the towers of Tupperware you’ll be getting through.

All in all, you’ll be needing a lot more room in your home for your new arrival and Clearabee’s ‘Man and Van’ clearance service is the cost-effective, convenient and eco-friendly solution. But let’s take a look at costs while we’re here.

Clearabee’s Waste Calculator

Receiving quotes for rubbish removals can sometimes be a difficult and drawn-out process, either waiting for a call back or an email but Clearabee have made this process as hassle-free and as interactive as possible.

Clearabee’s waste calculator gives you the opportunity to leisurely add items from your home to a virtual basket, before receiving a quote and a recommended service to remove your unwanted items. You can remove items from all around your home so it gives you the time to experiment with what you can have removed for your budget.

With a new nursery in mind, you can look at removing items such as a single bed, a wardrobe and a lamp from a spare bedroom and the Waste Calculator will give you the best price. Using this as an example, these 3 items will amount to approximately 3 cubic yards of waste and will cost you £159.99 to remove responsibly with Clearabee from the Bristol area (other areas may vary)

The Waste Calculator also has the option to select other items from your office or garden so if you’re clearing a spare room or an office for a nursery, it might also be a good opportunity to clear other areas of your house too.
