HOW IT WORKS
Getting your old sofa removed is super easy with Clearabee
We will collect your sofa from indoors or outside, with a two-person team, and can usually remove your sofa the same day or the next day, with free AM / PM slots.
Our sofa disposal service offers fixed prices based on the size of your sofa, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying before you book. We will also recycle your sofa, so know that we’re the next best thing if your sofa can’t be reused as we don’t use any landfill sites.
Book & pay for your collection
Use our simple booking process to add the items you require.
We’ve designed it to be simple, quick and efficient. You’ll be able to checkout in a matter of a few short minutes.
Prepare for your sofa disposal
Give your sofa a good once over.
Make sure the remote hasn’t fallen down the back, we don’t want to collect anything you want to keep by accident.
On the day of the collection
Once we are on our way we’ll send you an SMS
Please ensure that we can access your item. If we cannot access the items or you are not at your property, a wasted journey will be charged which will cost £29.99, with the balance refunded.
After your collection
Your sofa will be delivered to one of our approved Commerical Waste Transfer Stations and you will be sent a Waste Transfer Note.
This will record the location of your items, the vehicle used to remove them, and the total percentage that was recycled or diverted from landfill.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Sofa removal FAQs
Here are few frequently asked questions we receive regarding sofa removal.
Will my sofa be handled in a compliant and legal manner?
All of the sofas and settees we collect are removed under a Waste Transfer Note. We provide these in a digital format which is sent immediately upon signing of the job. As well as emailing you a copy, we retain them on our system for a minimum of two years, should you ever be called upon to produce it in the future.
How many sofas do you collect?
Out of the 125,000 jobs we complete annually, thousands of these include sofa collection and recycling. As the UK’s largest in-house rubbish clearance company, we are very experienced when it comes to removing and recycling your sofas.
Sofa recycling - do you guarantee this?
We recycle over 95% of all the waste we remove. Our sofa recycling scheme ensures used sofas are taken to local Waste Transfer Stations designed to process the items we are transporting. In many parts of the country we can guarantee 100% landfill diversion, which includes most major towns and cities.
Couch removal from inside the property - is this ok?
We collect sofas from inside or outside the property. We can also remove a sofa from upstairs as long as it is safe to do so. We send a two-person team who will carefully carry the sofas out of your property and into the vehicle.
What if the sofa is too big to fit through the door?
As long as it is safe to do so and will not cause damage to your property, we are able to deconstruct a sofa before removing it from the property. We are not able to remove a door from its frame or lower the sofa out of a window due to health and safety risks.
My sofa is in great condition - what are my options?
If your sofa is in good condition and still has the fire labels attached, it could well be worth checking with a charity to see if they can organise a free collection. Not only will this save you money it will also ensure the sofa can be re-used, which is even better than recycling. We have included links to some of the national charities who can help below, including the British Heart Foundation and Shelter.
From which locations do you pick up sofas?
Excluding Northern Ireland, we offer a nationwide sofa pick-up service.
How soon can you remove my sofa?
We offer a same-day or next-day service to most of the country. In large urban areas such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow we’ll usually be able to pick your sofa on the very same day, including Saturdays.
Do I need to do anything?
Not usually – although you may want to check nothing’s fallen down the back of your sofa. We wouldn’t want to be driving away with your TV remote control. We aren’t able to remove doors or windows, so if you think this is going to be necessary then you may need to organise this yourself. We’re happy to deconstruct sofas when required, however.
Will there be any surcharges?
The prices we charge for these items are usually fixed. If you have a particularly huge variant or you know it won’t get out of the door without some serious work, please let us know in advance so we can cost and plan the collection appropriately. All standard sofas are removed for the fixed price specified.
Does the sofa need to be outside?
We remove the sofa from inside the property, including from upstairs. You do not need to have the sofa outside, unless you plan to be out at the time of collection.
Do I need to prepay?
As the service is fixed-price, we do charge for the items in advance, which saves time on the day and ensures our collection team has enough space on the vehicle for your collection. If you’re not sure what is going to be removed or have a lot more waste, you can book a flexible ‘man and van’ collection and just pay the £59.99 call-out charge. However, this means that you won’t benefit from the reduced fixed price schedule which is applied to prepaid sofas.
REUSE / RESELL / RECYCLE
Is your old sofa in a good condition?
If your sofa is in an excellent condition and has all the fire labels attached, you may want to consider donating it to charity.
In many cases, the charity will collect from your property. This service is only suitable for very well kept sofas.
