FAQs

Weston-super-Mare skip hire FAQs

When selecting a skip, there are some things you need to think about, including which skip is the most suitable, where you’re going to place it and what you plan to dispose of in it.

We have covered the main skips in our FAQ section, but we can hire out almost any type of skip if required.

The following are Clearabee’s most popular skips:

4-yard - The ‘Midi Skip’:

Popular for disposing of heavy or dense waste like bricks, gravel and soil, these skips are perfect for average-sized garden, home and construction projects.

6 and 8-yard - The ‘Builder’s Skip’:

These are most-commonly used for heavy, dense waste and bulky waste with the six-yard skip being the most regularly-hired skip in the UK.

10 & 12-yard- ‘Maxi’ and ‘XL’ skips:

These skips are not suitable for heavy and dense waste but are great for light installation waste. These are perfect for larger projects like house and office clearances.

Generally, the larger the skip, the lower the cost per cubic yard. The most expensive aspect of skip hire is the HGV delivery but this doesn’t increase significantly alongside the size of the skip. Therefore, hiring a larger skip gives you better value for money.

Our skips are all available online with real-time pricing. Our customer service centre is open 7-days a week and you can book anytime using our hassle-free online system. But if you have a special request, get in touch with us and we can usually provide a bespoke quote for you within a few hours.

If you are hoping to place your skip on the road due to a lack of space on your property, then you will need a skip permit. The costs vary depending on your local authority but Clearabee can apply for your skip permit and include the cost in your order.

If you don’t have enough room for a skip, you may be able to use a nearby permit-only or Pay and Display parking space, as long as you can acquire a parking suspension.

These are usually charged on a day-by-day basis by your local council, but we can apply for your permit and include the cost alongside your order.

What is a Midi Skip?

A midi skip is a smaller variant of skip, it’s smaller size means they’re easier to handle to cheaper to hire. The most common size of skip tends to be the 8-yard skip, while midi skips hold a capacity of 4 cubic yards. Midi skips tend to be best suited for clear-outs after the renovation of a single room. They are ideal for kitchen and bathroom refurbs. For a clearance of an entire home, you would probably have to look at a skip with a larger capacity. Something like an 8 or a 12-yard skip possibly, that’s of course if you plan to do all the heavy lifting and fill the skip yourself. If you would like an extra pair of hands or two then our reliable and speedy ‘Man and Van’ service might be just what you’re looking for.
