A Guide to Our Skip Alternatives

Read Time: 4 mins

All homes and offices have times when they have a large amount of waste that they need to remove. Whether it’s due to renovations, decluttering or just relocation. Waste can be difficult to remove yourself, especially if you don’t have a car or you have large amounts. In this case, you will have to consider hiring a skip or skip alternatives.

A popular option is to hire a skip. However this may not always be possible. You may not have anywhere to place a skip, or you simply might not have enough rubbish to fill one. If you live in a flat, then you may not be able to get the waste outside on your own. If you are wanting to place a skip on a public highway (on a public road rather than your own property), then you will need to obtain a skip permit from your local council.

What skip alternatives are available?

If you can’t hire a skip, then don’t worry – we are here to help! We have several different skip alternatives, including hiring a man with a van or using our skip bags. At Clearabee we do all of the heavy lifting and hard work, so you have less to worry about. We’re here to help and we can help you to choose the best option for your needs.

If you have any questions about our services, you can get in touch with us either online or over the phone. Our team are available to answer any queries that you may have about our services.

Our man and van service

The first of our skip alternatives is our man and van service. This service may be the perfect solution for you. We operate nationwide and have over 100 vans across the UK, so it doesn’t matter where you are located. You can book same day collection services, or you can pick another date and time that suits you. We are able to remove most waste types at either domestic or commercial properties as long as it is safe to access.

Our man and van service is a great option for anyone who would otherwise struggle to move the waste. Our team can remove the waste from anywhere indoors or outdoors excluding lofts. Just ensure there are no health and safety issues such as unstable or damaged staircases before you book us in. This service is not suitable for heavy construction waste.

Our team will arrive at the allocated time, you just need to show them the waste that they need to clear and leave them to it. Your waste will be placed in the van and then taken away to the nearest local commercial recycling facility. Your waste will be sorted depending on what it is and recycled.

We are proud to say that more than 95% of the waste that we collect avoids going into landfills. You can choose our man with a van service knowing that your waste will be recycled.

Choosing our skip bags for rubbish removal

Another of our skip alternatives you might want to consider is our skip bags. With these skip bags, you fill them up at your own rate and then book a collection when they are full. Our team will come over and remove the rubbish when you are done with it and take it away to be sorted. As with the man with a van service, more than 95% of the waste collected will avoid landfills. We also offset 150% of the CO2 emissions from our vans by planting trees.

Skip bag sizes

Our skip bags come in three different sizes; Small, Medium and Large:

skip bags

Make sure you choose the right size skip bag by checking the sizes in the table above. You don’t want to be paying for wasted air space but you also want to make sure you can fit all of your waste in your chosen bag. Once you have chosen the right size bag for you, we will deliver it free of charge the next working day. You then have six months to fill up your bag and book in a collection. This is great as there’s no rush to fill it up.

When filling up your bags, ensure that you don’t have any overspill. It is easier to fill the large and extra large bags if you fill the sides first. It is also important to be mindful of the weight restrictions too. You don’t have to book the collection for the same address that the bag was delivered to. Just make sure you select the correct address when booking your collection.

Once the bag is full and you have booked your collection, you will need to ensure that it is placed within 10 meters of the road. This makes it easy for our team to see your waste and transfer all of the waste into the back of their van.

When the waste has been collected, our team can either take the skip bags back or you can keep them for your next collection.

How do you choose the right service for your needs?

As you’d expect, the two services both have different benefits. Which one you choose will depend upon your needs and the waste that you need to clear.

The man and van service would be best for you if:

You have a lot of waste in different areas of your house/garden

You don’t have anywhere to place a skip outside your house/office

The waste is too heavy/bulky for you to carry on your own

You don’t have space outdoors for a skip or skip bag

The skip bags would be best for you if:

You have a large amount of waste

You are able to fill up the bag with the waste yourself

There’s ongoing renovation work and you need to be able to fill the skip bags for a long period of time

If you still can’t decide which is best for you, or you have any further questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our team are happy to help you either online or over the phone.
