FAQs
Newcastle-under-Lyme skip hire FAQs
When choosing a skip there are some things which will impact on the size and type of skip that is the most suitable, where you plan to place it and what you plan to put inside of it.
We have detailed the main skips with our frequently asked questions section, but we can hire almost any type of skip.
If you are mindful of your T&Cs then any additional charges should be mitigated against. Additional charges usually occur when the skip is filled past the ‘Level Load’ line, if it can’t be delivered/collected on time or if prohibited items are discovered in the skip.
Additional charges may be applicable in the event of needing parking suspensions or skip permits but these should be discussed and agreed upon beforehand.
Standard garden and construction waste can both be disposed of in a skip, although be mindful of the weight of bricks, rubble and soil. Standard household waste can be thrown into a skip alongside bulky and business waste.
Certain waste streams cannot be removed by a skip without prior arrangement:
Hazardous waste including freezers, laptops and TV’s
White goods and large WEEE items
Chemicals, liquids, solvents and paints
Plasterboard and gypsum waste
Food waste
Clearabee’s standard skip hire period is 14 days but if you want to hire a skip for longer, you should let us know as early as possible so arrangements can be made and charges can be processed. You can also order a designated-day delivery if you require a skip for a shorter time.
You will need a parking suspension to place your skip in a permit-only or Pay and Display parking space. These are available from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and are charged on a day-by-day basis with a notice placed to suspend the parking space.
