Additional charges are usually incurred when the skip is overloaded, unable to be placed or collected on schedule or if prohibited items are discovered in the skip.
Additional charges may be applicable when it comes to parking suspensions or skip permits but these should be discussed and agreed upon at the moment of ordering.
Whilst skips are a versatile rubbish removal solution, there are certain restrictions on which waste streams can go into each skip and which waste types can be mixed.
Modest amounts of garden and construction waste are all suitable for a skip, although you must not exceed the weight restrictions with regards to bricks, rubble and soil. Standard household items can be thrown into a skip alongside bulky and business waste.
Certain waste streams cannot be removed by a skip without prior arrangement:
Hazardous waste streams which include laptops, monitors and TV’s
White goods and large WEEE items
Food waste
Plasterboard/gypsum
Solvents, liquids and paints
You can hire a skip for however long you want, but our standard skip hire period is 14 days. If you need to hire a skip for a longer period of time, let us know ASAP so we are able to make the arrangements and process the additional charges. If you need a shorter skip hire period, then you can arrange a designated-day collection when you place your order.
If you are looking to place your skip in a permit-only parking space, or if the parking space is Pay and Display then you are going to need a parking suspension from your council in addition to the aforementioned skip permit.
Parking suspensions such as these are most commonly charged on a day-by-day basis and require local authority to place a notice which suspends the parking space.
