Gateshead skip permits

Clearabee can provide specialist advice on the circumstances of your individual skip hire, including the necessity for a skip permit.

Generally speaking, you will need a skip permit in Gateshead if you do not have the space on your property, meaning your skip needs to be positioned on the road.

Gateshead parking suspensions

Gateshead and Tyne and Wear rely on skip hire for waste clearance from construction sites, home renovations and office refurbs.

Not every property has space for a skip though, especially those in built-up areas. However, Clearabee can acquire the relevant parking suspensions so you can use a skip even if you don’t have the room.

FAQs

Gateshead skip hire FAQs

When considering skip hire, there are a few things you should think about, including which skip is best for you, where you’re going to place it and what you're going to dispose of in it.

We discuss the main skips in our FAQ section, but we can hire out almost any type of skip if required.

View all FAQs

The ‘Midi’ skip is usually the smallest hirable skip at four cubic yards in size. ‘Builders’ skips are six - eight cubic yards, while ‘Maxi’ and extra-large skips are ten - twelve cubic yards.

The largest skips we provide are specialist skips which include lockable skips, enclosed skips and Roll On, Roll Off (RORO) containers. These skips are costed with a transport and tonnage rate and quotes can be provided upon customer request.

Clearabee customers can amend their order or delivery date as long as the skip is not already out for delivery (in which case a wasted journey fee will apply). If you have more waste than your skip can hold, we suggest supplementing the service with our ‘Man and Van’ waste clearance.

A wasted journey charge may apply if we cannot place or collect the skip at the scheduled time.

Additional charges may occur if the skip is filled beyond the ‘level load’ line, if the waste exceeds the skip’s weight limit or if it is filled with prohibited items.

Parking suspensions and skip permits should be ordered at the same time as your skip so additional charges are less likely to be incurred.

You will need a skip permit from Gateshead Council if you need to place the skip on the public highway. The cost of skip permits depends on each council but Clearabee can apply for your skip permit and add it to the combined cost of your order.

You will only need a parking suspension if you plan to use a Pay and Display or permit-only parking space to place your skip. Parking suspensions require Gateshead Council to suspend the parking space so others can’t use it and this will be charged on a day-by-day basis.
