6 and 8 cubic yards - ‘Builder’s skips
The 6-yard skip is the most popular skip in the UK. These skips are suitable for modest amounts of heavy, dense waste or bulky waste and general household waste.
4 cubic yards - ‘Midi’ Skip sizes
Suitable for modest amounts of home, garden and construction waste, these skips can be used to dispose of heavy/dense streams like bricks, rubble and soil.
Generally, the larger the volume of waste, the lower the cost per cubic yard. A considerable part of the cost of skip hire is the HGV transport, but transporting a bigger skip doesn’t significantly increase the transport, so a larger skip makes more sense financially.

Skips are a robust yet flexible rubbish removal solution but there are some restrictions around which waste streams can be thrown in a skip and which waste types can be mixed together.
Small amounts of construction and garden rubbish waste are suitable for a Midi skip, although you must take care not to exceed waste restrictions. Bulky items, business waste and standard household items can also be thrown into a skip.
These waste streams cannot be thrown in a skip without previous arrangement with Clearabee:
