Mansfield skip permits

Generally speaking, you will need a skip permit from Mansfield District Council if you do not have the space on your property so your skip has to be positioned on the public highway.

We can offer specialist advice on your skip hire and advise if you will need a skip permit too.

Mansfield parking suspensions

Construction sites, home renovations and office refurbs depend heavily on skip hire services in the East Midlands and all across the UK. Not every property has space for a skip though, especially those in more urban areas.

Clearabee can acquire a parking suspension on your behalf so you can make use of a skip even without the space.

Mansfield skip hire FAQs

When selecting a skip there are plenty of things to think about, including what skip size and type is the most suitable, and where you plan to place it.

We have detailed the main skips with our FAQ section, but we can hire specialist skips on request.

View all FAQs

Usually, the ‘Midi’ skip is the smallest skip available across the UK and is 4 cubic yards in size. ‘Builders’ skips are the size of 6 to 8 cubic yards, whilst ‘Maxi’ and extra-large skips are 10 - 12 cubic yards.

The largest skips are specialist hires which include lockable skips, enclosed skips and Roll On, Roll Off (RORO) containers. We can usually provide a quote for these within a couple of hours.

The following waste streams cannot be disposed of in a skip without previous arrangement with Clearabee:

Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment items and white goods

Hazardous waste streams

Excessively weighty or dense waste

Any food wastage

Plasterboard and gypsum waste

Solvents, chemicals and liquids (including paint)

There can be some additional costs associated with skip hire but these can be accounted for with pre-planning. These are:

Skip permits & parking suspensions - if you need to place your skip on the road you will require a skip permit. If you plan on using a permit-only or paid parking space, you will also require a parking suspension.

Prohibited items - hazardous waste streams must not be disposed of in a skip and will incur a substantial additional cost if discovered. These include, but are not exclusive to, freezers, monitors and food waste.

Level loads - the load must be safe to transport by legal requirement. If you exceed the level line or weight restrictions, you could be charged extra for a wasted journey.

Wasted journeys - these may occur because of failed collections or deliveries when it is not our fault. Please make sure that there is access to the skip for both drop-off and collection.

You will need a skip permit in Mansfield if you are planning to place your skip on the public road. There may be additional requirements when it comes to signage and lighting. We can apply for the skip permit on your behalf and include any additional cost along with your booking.

You need a parking suspension in addition to a skip permit if you plan to place your skip in a Pay and Display or a permit-only parking space. Parking suspensions need Mansfield District Council to suspend the parking space in question to stop others from parking there and this will be charged for each day that the space is out of service.
