The 4-yard ‘Midi’ skip is the smallest skip that is widely available across the UK. If you need a larger container, we also have 6 - 8 cubic yard ‘Builders’ skips available which are the most common in the UK. Bigger still are the 10 - 12 yards ‘Maxi’ skips and specialist skips.
Whilst skips are a flexible rubbish removal solution, there are restrictions on what waste can go into each size skip and which waste streams can be mixed.
Household waste, bulky items and business waste can all be thrown into a skip together, alongside modest amounts of garden and construction waste.
The following items are prohibited from being thrown in a skip without prior arrangement:
All food waste
White goods and large electrical items such as fridges and freezers
Hazardous waste such as lighting tubes, fridges and monitors
Plasterboard or gypsum waste
Chemicals, liquids, paints and solvents
Skip permits are issued by East Staffordshire Borough Council and you will need one if you are intending to place your skip on a road. We can apply for a skip permit on your behalf and include the additional cost in your order.
To place your skip in a permit-only or Pay and Display parking space, you will require a parking suspension from your local authority in addition to a skip permit. Parking suspensions are charged on a day-by-day basis and require the council to place a notice to suspend the parking space.
